How to Negotiate Salary and Interview With Confidence

Over the last few months, more and more people have asked me for advice on overcoming job interview jitters. Some of these individuals have experienced career changes as a result of COVID-19, while others are eager to grow in their current fields. Some are seeking internal promotions, while others are looking for a new environment that is better suited for them. While their circumstances may vary, each of them have shared similar insecurities and fears about the interview process. Common questions I’ve heard include:

  • How should I communicate my past achievements?

  • What if the interviewer thinks I’m not qualified for the role?

  • How do I handle a group interview?

  • What happens if I start to feel nervous?

  • How do I ask for the salary I want?

I’ve successfully coached clients on turning their career achievements into memorable stories, effectively answering interview questions (or carefully not answering certain questions), and overcoming pre-interview anxiety. But the more I uncovered in my work with them, the more I realized there was to learn — so I joined forces with job recruiting pro, Allison Kerzner. Allison is an expert negotiation coach and the founder of The Comp Coach.
